2015 Year-in-Review: Dustin Johnson Launches International Junior Tourney

December 28, 2015

DJ, who lived in Myrtle Beach for a decade and still considers the area home, announced the launch of the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship, which will be played February 13-15, 2016 at TPC Myrtle Beach, his home course.

The 54-hole event will feature a 90-player field, including boys and girls, with a goal of growing into a premier international tournament. While Johnson will not be able to attend the inaugural event, he will be intimately involved.

Coming off the best season of his career, the announcement of the event was the first time many became aware of Johnson’s commitment to junior golf. But the 9-time PGA Tour winner has long worked to provide opportunities for developing young players.

Through the Dustin Johnson Foundation, which is headquartered in Myrtle Beach, Johnson has donated more than $250,000 to junior golf, sponsoring numerous events throughout the state and helping cover entry costs for kids who can’t afford to do so.

The Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship is the next step in DJ’s commitment to providing opportunities for youth golfers, and everyone is looking forward to the inaugural event.
