Every course has postcard-perfect photography, but golfers play holes not pictures. As a result, GolfHoliday.com asks the pro at every course it reviews for their three favorite holes.

At Founders Club it was general manager Rick Taylor who shared his insight about Myrtle Beach’s newest course. Without further ado, here are Taylor’s three favorite holes:

No. 3, 190-yard, par 3 – The hole requires a shot over water and encapsulates several of Founders Club’s defining characteristics – sand, undulating greens and water.

“You have so many options,” Taylor says. “We have upper and lower tee boxes, depending on what maintenance practices are that day. It’s a shot over water, it’s very visually attractive and it has an undulating green that requires a mid to long iron. It’s just a pretty par 3.

No. 14, 449-yard par 4 – A long dogleg right that plays into an elevated green flanked by bunkers that devour dreams of par faster than golfers eat Krispy Kreme donuts.

“I’m not usually a person that goes for a really tough hole,” Taylor says. “It’s tough but fair, and I really like No. 14.

No. 18, 373-yard, par 4 – The finishing hole at Founders Club sends players home with a visual they will remember – an approach shot over water into a green that rests in the shadow of the course’s Lowcountry style clubhouse.  After players finish their round, many bring their beverage of choice onto the clubhouse deck and watch other golfers navigate 18.

“It gives golfers an opportunity for a good score,” Taylor says. “It’s very challenging and aesthetically beautiful. With the lake in front of the green, the oak trees, and the clubhouse in the background, it’s a nice experience to play the last hole.”

Do you agree or disagree with Taylor? What are your favorite holes at Founders Club?
