Boardwalk Beach Resort’s Glens Group Package is a Myrtle Beach Golf Package Favorite

July 17, 2017 by Chris King

The Glens Group courses have long been favorites among Myrtle Beach golfers, in no small part due the variety and creativity of the challenges they offer.

Heather Glen is a vital part of the Glens Group packageBoardwalk Beach Resort, located on 23rd Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, features a central location and oceanfront accommodations, making its version of Glens Group Package one of the area’s best.

Golfers can book Boardwalk Beach Resort’s Glen Group Package as a 4-night, 4-round deal starting at $235, an incredible value for a trip that includes golf at Glen Dornoch, Heather Glen, Possum Trot and Shaftesbury Glen.

Glen Dornoch is one of only six area layouts that plays along the Intracoastal Waterway and its three finishing holes are among Myrtle Beach’s most memorable. The 16th features an approach to a green buffeted by the marshy waters of the Intracoastal. The shot is terrifying and beautiful, an unforgettable combination.

The 17th, a par 3, is the course’s best in the eyes of many. Playing 164 yards from the white tees, it’s not unusual to see boats cruising along the water just yards from the green. In all, Glen Dornoch has five holes that bring the Intracoastal into play.

Heather Glen was voted best new course in America upon its opening in 1987 and hasn’t looked back. A 27-hole, Scottish-inspired facility, Heather Glen has improved with age and a day on the Clyde Johnston design is time well spent. The layout’s most prominent hole is the fourth on the White Course, a challenge heightened by the Devil’s Mistress, a cavernous pot bunker that fronts the green.

Shaftesbury Glen underwent a 2016 renovation that brought a fresh look and feel to the layout. The project added 250,000 square feet of waste bunkers, which brought needed visual contrast to the course and improved drainage throughout. The former Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course of the Year is better than it has ever been.

Possum Trot has long touted itself as Myrtle Beach’s friendliest course, and few will argue with that claim. The people are great and the layout, which is always in good shape, delivers great value. Possum Trot is much more than an unforgettable name and well worth your time to play.

Boardwalk Beach Resort’s location and oceanfront view make it the perfect base for golfers enjoying the Glens Group Package.
