Golfweek Ranks 3 Myrtle Beach Layouts Among America’s Top 100 Resort Courses, 9 Among Top 200

The Dunes Golf & Beach Club, which was ranked the 24th best resort course in America, No. 27 Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and No. 63 True Blue Golf Club headed the Myrtle Beach entries on the prestigious list. 

Dunes Club, which has hosted six Senior PGA Tour Championships and will host the women’s USGA Women’s Four-Ball in 2017, offers a classic design, stunning views and some of the best greens complexes in the south. 

Caledonia, the late Mike Strantz’ first solo, design wows players with its lowcountry beauty and emphasis on shotmaking. The course, which is set amidst hundreds of live oak trees draped in Spanish moss, is highlighted by an unforgettable 18th hole, featuring a green that rests in the shadow of an antebellum style clubhouse. 

True Blue has been rocketing up top 100 lists in recent years, earning acclaim from Golfweek, Golf Magazine and Golf Channel, and the reasons are many. True Blue features some of the Myrtle Beach area’s largest fairways and greens, and Strantz framed the massive fairways with natural waste areas, creating stunning visuals. 

As part of the Golfweek’s Best: Resort Courses, 2017 initiative, the magazine also released the “Next 100,” the layouts ranked 101-200, and several of Myrtle Beach’s most popular courses were ranked among that group. 

The Moorland Course at Legends Resort (No. 116) led the area’s entrants among the “Next 100,” followed by King’s North at Myrtle Beach National (No. 120), Dye Course at Barefoot Resort (No. 142), Grande Dunes Resort Course (No. 149), Love Course at Barefoot Resort (No. 193) and the Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort (No. 94). 

In all, nine of America’s 200 best resort courses are located along the Grand Strand, a testament to the depth and quality of the area’s offerings.
