Your Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Primer

The Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, otherwise known as Myrtle Beach’s greatest party, is upon us. Whether you attend every year, this is your first time, or you are still dreaming of going, here is what you need to know about one golf’s greatest charity events.

How Early Can I Get Started?
Gates open at 8 a.m. and shuttle buses running from the House of Blues and Alabama Theatre parking lots will begin at the same time.

Where?
As always, the 2018 event will be at Barefoot Resort & Golf’s Dye Course. Remember, there is no parking at the courses without a pass, so plan to take the shuttle over.

What Time Do Festivities Begin?
A long drive exhibition, featuring Tim Burke, David Mobley and Hootie & the Blowfish, begins at 8:45 a.m. The tournament’s first tee shot will be struck at 10 a.m.

Why You Want to Arrive Early
If witnessing nearly 400 yard drives isn’t enough, make you arrive by 9:05 to hear Hootie front-man Darius Rucker singer the National Anthem. It’s one of the day’s underrated highlights.

Who is Going to be Here?
Among the headliners, beyond Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, on the celebrity side are: Dan Marino, Bruce Smith, Jim McMahon, George Rogers, Mike Golic, Dan Patrick, Rick Barry, Spud Webb, Joey Fatone, Angie Everhart, Grant Fuhr, Gary Valentine, Tony Womack, Jim Cantore and that’s just for starters. Complete celebrity list is here.

Which Pros will try to Win the Monday After the Masters?
If you can’t win a green jacket, the next best thing is playing in the Monday After the Masters. Headlining the list of pros at this year’s MAM are: Davis Love III, Woody Austin, Harold Varner III, Lee Elder, Chris DiMarco, Tommy “2 Gloves” Gainey and Paige Spiranac, among many others. Tips for Watching
Picking the proper spot to enjoy the festivities is crucial to maximizing the fun and putting you in positon to snag an autograph or a picture with your favorite celebrity.

So, what do we recommend?

The first, fourth and 10th tees, all of which are located around the clubhouse, are prime viewing spots. There is often a logjam on the tee of all three holes, so pros and celebrities often use the time to interact with fans.

Make sure you get a pairings sheet upon arrival, so you will know approximately where your favorite players are on the course. For instance, if Dan Marino starts on the second tee, go ahead and setup at No. 4, knowing Marino will be coming shortly.

Don’t Forget the Reason for the Event
The MAM is a great time. Players, celebrities and fans alike enjoy a day of revelry, but don’t forget the reason the guys from Hootie & the Blowfish continue to run the event: it’s a charity fundraiser. At the conclusion of this year’s event, the band will have raised more than $7 million for charity. So we are clear, that’s not revenue generated; that is $7 million that has been distributed to support education and junior golf in South Carolina through the Hootie Foundation.
