Rivers Edge Installing New Greens

July 20, 2015

Rivers Edge is getting news greens this summer“The golf course, tee to green, has never looked better,” said Mike Buccerone, president of East Coast Golf Management, the company the oversee operations at Rivers Edge. “With the time and effort we’ve put into the course, we want to make sure expectations are met (and the new greens will do that).”

The Sunday grass is a sodium tolerant strain of the popular ultradwarf Bermudagrasses that have become the preferred putting surface throughout the South. Rivers Edge plays along the brackish water of the Shallotte River, which provides the course stunning visuals.

Buccerone studied the performance of the Sunday Bermuda at several other courses in the region, giving him confidence that the new putting surfaces will restore Rivers Edge to its rightful place near the top of the Myrtle Beach golf market.

Rivers Edge will use the time to enhance other parts of the course as well, making drainage improvements and removing a total of 150 trees on the 6th, 10th and 12th holes, among other places, that have made it difficult to grow grass.

When the course reopens, Rivers Edge will enjoy the type of conditioning, that along with Palmer’s work and natural beauty, have made the layout one of the best Myrtle Beach golf courses and all of America.

Rivers Edge opened in 1999 and was immediately one of the area’s most popular layouts, further enhancing the appeal of Myrtle Beach’s North Strand.
