Sandpiper Bay Golf Club Launches New Website

sandpiperbay1.jpgThe last six months have been good ones for Sandpiper Bay Golf Club. The 27-hole, North Strand facility won Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association Golf Course of the Year honors in July, completed a three-year greens renovation project in August, and launched a new, consumer-friendly website at the end of 2010.

The Golf Course of the Year award is difficult for any course to anticipate, but Sandpiper’s new website – www.sandpiperbaygolf.com – was months in the making. The redesigned site offers players a look at each of Sandpiper’s nine-hole courses – the Sand, Bay and Piper – photography, course prices and the ability to book tee times online.

Sandpiper’s new website also highlights the facility’s amenities, provides directions, and has a calendar of events. Most importantly, it’s easy to navigate.

Sandpiper Bay, located just across the state line in North Carolina, is one of the area’s hidden gems, offering golfers a welcome combination of value, outstanding conditions and good customer service. Course owners, Don and Blair Thomas, have been steadfast in their commitment to providing players a quality experience at Sandpiper.

Despite the economic difficulties the country has faced in recent years, the greens renovation project moved forward at Sandpiper, culminating with the reopening of the Bay 9, featuring new MiniVerde Bermuda greens, on August 2. The Sand 9 received MiniVerde greens in 2008, and the Piper 9 had the highly regarded Bermuda grass installed in 2009.

The completed project also included repaving cart paths, tree removal and a refurbishment of the clubhouse.

Sandpiper Bay, a Dan Maples design, opened in 1987, and was one of the course’s that helped make the North Strand the epic center of the Myrtle Beach golf boom that started in the late 1980s. Sandpiper opened a nine-hole addition in 1999, bringing the popular facility to its current 27 holes.
