A short drive north of Myrtle Beach reveals one of the Grand Strand’s most noteworthy designs: Farmstead Golf Links, featuring the area’s only par-6 hole. Join us on a wondrous video tour, and check out our hole-by-hole photo gallery below of this Willard Byrd design.
Out in the country, away from the everyday noise, you’ll find something you’ve been yearning for: a golf experience as natural as the piece of land on which it was built.
Spaciously set on more than 400 acres, Farmstead Golf Links stands out as one of Willard Byrd’s finest designs in the Myrtle Beach area with design and renovation work assisted by Dave Johnson. The expansiveness of the property strikes you immediately with the beautiful 8,000 square-foot, red brick Georgian style clubhouse.
Rather than constructed, this par 72 layout was seemingly revealed from this spectacular property, previously farmland of the McLamb Family. Wide-open views span the property from multiple tee box vantage points with naturally rolling fairways, contouring mounds and wispy tall grass off the fairway that provide stunning color and visuals throughout the entire course.
This memorable layout stretches to more than 7,200 yards from the back tees and uniquely straddles the state line separating South Carolina and North Carolina. While each hole will leave a lasting impression from its playability, challenge or aesthetics, the greatest test is left for last: a monstrous 767-yard, par-6 18th Hole, finishing at the back steps of a white-columned clubhouse.
Very seldom does a golf course simply reveal itself from such naturally beautiful terrain. Equally as beautiful are the course conditions, and true TifEagle Bermuda putting surfaces.
Farmstead Golf Links is worth the trip, away from the busyness of the everyday hustle, to reach beautiful farmland that restores the very reason why we enjoy this game so much. Take a moment, look around and appreciate the very essence of what this golf experience offers.
