Golf, Racing and Music Stars Join PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com Hurricane Relief Effort

Hurricane Florence has been a life-altering event for thousands across the Carolinas who continue bearing the brunt of its aftermath.

While the cleanup effort nears completion on several fronts (including our Myrtle Beach golf industry), and thousands of area families, businesses, schools and places of worship press forward to reestablish a sense of normalcy in their daily lives, thousands more still deal with the uncertainty that rising flood waters are bringing to their homes and surrounding communities.

Folks need help. They’ll continue to need help long after the flood waters have receded.

We have an obligation to help. And the Myrtle Beach golf community has turned to a few of our good friends to lend a hand in the effort.

Dustin Johnson & Mark BryanThat’s why PGA TOUR superstar Dustin Johnson, Mark Bryan of Hootie & the Blowfish and NASCAR champion Denny Hamlin are teaming up with PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com, the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association, Golf Tourism Solutions and its non-profit foundation, Project Golf, to raise money for families impacted by Hurricane Florence. Myrtle Beach’s two PGA TOUR Superstore locations are also participating in the initiative.

Dustin, who played his collegiate golf at Coastal Carolina University and called the Grand Strand home for more than a decade, has pledged financial assistance through the Dustin Johnson Foundation.

Mark and Denny have graciously offered to donate proceeds from their annual Pro Am Jam on September 24 to benefit Project Golf, the non-profit foundation launched by Golf Tourism Solutions, the agency responsible for promoting the Myrtle Beach golf community as a destination.

Dustin and Mark are longtime friends of our golf community, and we’ve come to know Denny through his participation in the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, which speaks to his charitable nature. As Hurricane Florence has adversely affected so many throughout the Carolinas, their involvement will go a long way in our collective effort to help those who need it most in these trying times.

In addition, Project Golf has set up a donation page for anyone interested supporting this relief effort to contribute.
