Golf Instruction Zone: Three Quiet “H’s” Will Improve Your Putting

August 12, 2016

Hi, I’m Ted Frick, owner and director of instruction at Classic Swing Golf School at Legends Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Today, we are going to talk about putting, the most unique aspect of golf.

Here’s the thing we use at our school – the three quiet Hs. The ingredients all good putters have in common: the quiet head, the quiet hips and quiet hands. Here is a demonstration. I’m going to put my putter across the chest, let my arms hang down, and throw my hips back in my posture. I’m going to lightly touch my fingertips together. Without moving my head, without moving my hips, I’m going to move my hands in a see-saw motion with my shoulders. The key is big muscles moving small muscles.

No matter what grips you use, learn to make a motion where your head is still, your hips are still and your wrists are still. The ingredients to good putting. For more information, go to my website classicswing.com. Scroll to the newsletter bar and look up tips on putting.
