Hot List: Myrtle Beach’s 3 Longest Par 3s

Unless you are a low single-digit handicap, you likely don’t play from the tips, but if you find yourself in the nether regions of the tee area, here are Myrtle Beach’s three longest par 3s. Bring everything you have.

1. Burning Ridge, No. 12, 247 yards – Gene Hamm is one of the most prolific Myrtle Beach golf course architects with seven courses to his credit, and the 12th at Burning Ridge is among his most daunting creations. Burning Ridge isn’t extremely long – 6,780 yards from the tips – but this whopper requires every bit of swing speed and strength you have.

2. Prestwick, No. 8, 246 yards – This Pete and P.B. Dye inspired monster doesn’t have trouble around the green but merely reaching it is a herculean task. Golfers are best served to aim left, giving themselves the opportunity to run the ball up.

T-3. Moorland, No. 7, 245 yards – Moorland has been ranked among America’s most challenging golf courses and the seventh does little to discourage that notion. If you are playing a P.B. Dye layout, be ready for a challenge.

T-3 Dunes, No. 12, 245 yards – In addition to being one of the Grand Strand’s longest par 3s, it’s one of the prettiest. The Atlantic Ocean is nearby and a salt marsh comes into play on the right side. To think, when you walk off the 12th green Waterloo, the Grand Strand’s most famous par 5, awaits.

Have you played the Grand Strand’s longest par 3s and if so, how did you fair?
