Video Spotlight: Arcadian Shores Golf Club

His father put his mark on the Myrtle Beach golf scene decades earlier. Taking the chance to branch out on his own, “The Open Doctor” chose the Grand Strand as the canvas for his first solo creation. The result was Arcadian Shores Golf Club, now a longstanding favorite of visiting golfers. Join us on a dynamic video tour of Rees Jones’ outstanding design, with a hole-by-hole photo gallery also available below.

Golf history runs deep in the Myrtle Beach area, and Arcadian Shores remains a cornerstone of this rich history.

Opened in 1974, Arcadian Shores became the very first solo design by Rees Jones in what has become a legendary golf course architecture career. Son of Robert Trent Jones, a hall of a fame architect himself, Rees Jones brilliantly incorporated subtle sand dunes just seconds from the Atlantic Ocean into this classic design providing straightforward framed tee shots and challenging green complexes.

While Arcadian Shores history remains part of its allure, this timeless design recently reopened in the fall of 2017 with extensive renovations for future enjoyment. Renovation work included brand new asphalt cart paths, installation of Sunday Tiffeagle Bermuda greens, rebuilding of many bunkers, removal of numerous trees and construction of this brand new clubhouse overlooking the 18th green and practice area.

This modern contemporary clubhouse offers a comfortable dining area to grab a drink or food at the turn and grab the latest apparel and equipment in the pro shop. After your round, soak up an afternoon sunset on the back deck over some refreshing beverages with friends.

On course, there are many challenging, memorable holes. The second hole is a long par three with a forced carry and green protected to right with a lake. The par-five third presents a long, straightaway hole that often yields birdies should you keep it between the tree line.

Perhaps the most picturesque part of the course is the back-to-back par four combo of the 13th and 14th holes. This natural lake is home to abundant wildlife and one of the larger alligators in the area that protects the 13th green.

Golfers will find the recent renovations as a wonderful enhancement to this longtime Myrtle Beach destination. Centrally located at the Conway Bypass and Highway 17, Arcadian Shores provides a convenient golf experience for locals and golf packagers.
